Cathedral Illustration

During my time at PrimarySite I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to begin creating illustrations. One of these projects was in conjunction with a colleague to illustrate elements of the Liverpool skyline. One of the more challenging buildings I have attempted was Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King. In order to create this illustration I initially used a photo provided by the clients, and began tracing the outline of the shapes. Once this stage was finished I began adding colour blocks behind the outline, I then adjusted the outlines to be neater at an appropriate size.

Through projects like this I am beginning to find my own illustration style, while becoming more and more proficient in Illustrator.

Personally I like illustrations which mix with photography, which is why I have displayed the illustration that way. Below is the original image, the illustration alone and the hybrid image.
